Dr. Philippe Sessou

Born in 1984 in the Benin Republic, Dr. Philippe Sessou is a dedicated lecturer and Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Abomey-Calavi. He has previously served as the Head of the Animal Health and Production Department and is an esteemed alumnus of the Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative, led by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. Currently, he holds the position of Deputy Director at the Laboratory of Research in Applied Biology within the Doctoral School of Life Sciences and Earth. His areas of specialization include food safety, public health, biosecurity, and biosafety. Dr. Sessou earned his PhD in Food and Industrial Microbiology from the University of Abomey-Calavi. He has also completed postdoctoral research at the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development in Imphal, India, and at the Quadram Institute in Norwich, United Kingdom. In 2008, he obtained his Master of Science degree in Food Quality Control from the University of Abomey-Calavi. Dr. Sessou's extensive expertise and experience contribute significantly to the fields of food safety and public health, making him a key figure in advancing biosecurity and biosafety initiatives.
