Introduction This study investigated The Impact of Agricultural Transformation and Food Security Strategies for Sustainable Economic Growth in Nigeria. With Agriculture contributing significantly to national growth and employment, the sector holds immense potential to combat persistent food insecurity affecting millions of Nigerians. Drawing from the sustainable livelihoods, Agriculture Transformation Theory, the study explored how the adoption of modern agricultural practices, such as improved seeds, mechanization, mobile platforms, and extension services, could drive sustainable economic growth by enhancing productivity, improving rural livelihoods and reducing poverty. Methodology Using a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data were sourced from the Nigeria Living Standards Survey and related national databases, while qualitative data were obtained through stakeholder interviews and focus group discussions. A Propensity Score matching model was employed to account for selection bias. Results and discussion The analysis revealed that households that adopted agricultural innovations were 23.6% more likely to be food secure than non-adopters. Key enabling factors included access to credit, education, and availability of extension services, while barriers such as household size and regional disparities, particularly in Northern Nigeria, negatively affect food security outcomes. The findings underscore the importance of targeted agricultural strategies and inclusive innovation policies as catalysts for rural development, poverty reduction, and structural transformation. Conclusion The study concluded that ensuring food security in Nigeria requires coordinated investment in agricultural infrastructure, innovation adoption, and inclusive financing mechanisms. If implemented effectively, agricultural transformation can serve as a powerful tool for sustainable economic growth and national development. It is recommended that policymakers, development agencies, and stakeholders ensure that innovation reaches marginalised communities, thereby fostering rural development, reducing poverty, and promoting structural economic transformation.
